TO START A NEW LIFE OVERSEAS

OR DID THEY SETTLE  IN THE U.K. FROM ABROAD?

Tell us how you found out that they had emigrated and how

you researched their voyages and movements in a foreign land

How did they get there and did they return?

What was life like in their chosen country?

Have you met descendants of these ancestors?

Write your story, in around 2000 words, of your ancestor’s lives

in a foreign land and win a prize:

1^st Prize £200 for the best written

and researched story

2 Runner-Up prizes of £100

The entries will be judged by an independent local history group.

The closing date for entries is 30^th August 2009,

and the results will be published in the December issue of the Journal.

The only criteria for entering the competition is that you are a member of the Society.
