WILLIAM JORDAN & JANE LITHERLAND

Hi can anyone help with my query which is- I cannot find the marriage of William Jordan and Jane Litherland. William was born in 1816 at Oakthorpe and Jane was born in Measaham in 1817. In the 1841 census both of them were living with their respective parents, in the 1851 census they were showing as being married with a son Charles Litherland Jordan born in 1846. I assume from this inf they would have gotten married some where between 1841 and 1846?.

Can anyone help me please?.

HUTT

My 3x g.grandfather was born in 1784 in Hinckley, and he married Ann Hutt in 1802, I have tracked the family back to this time but I am having difficulty going further back. Would any of the Parish registers be available on line that I could check with, I have some names but the links seem tenuous. the name Benjamin seems to run a number of generations.

I would also be interested in finding more on the Hutt side of the family.

ROBERT LEES

My 3 x Great Grandfather Robert LEES was Married in Hinckley 16 Oct 1817 to Mary Lingham.

He lived in Castle Street, Hinckley. According to the 1841 Census he was a Needle maker and born about 1790, but not in Leicestershire.

He died 2 April 1848 and was buried in the Baptist burial ground, Hinckley. No will has so far been found.

I have been searching for his birth for many years without success, so if anybody can help I would be very grateful.

FREDERICK WICKES (WICKS)

We are keen to find what became of  our Gt. Grandfather Frederick Wickes (Wicks?) Parker who was born in Leicester in 1874.  He married Mary Eliza Smith of  Leicester Hose on 8 Mar 1900.

They had a daughter right on the 1901 census and at the time she was listed as un-named. We still don't know the name of this child.

They then had our Grandfather Cecil George Thomas Parker in 1905. We don't know of any other children born to this couple. .

At the time they were living in Melton Mowbray and in 1910 Mary Eliza died.

From that time we have no idea what became of Frederick Wickes Parker.  Did he re-marry or did he die?  There are a couple of marriages in Melton Mowbray  after 1910 but we cannot prove it was our Frederick, short of paying for two marriage certificates.

Our father Cecil George Thomas Parker immigrated to Australia in 1922 and the records show that he was an orphan.   He married our mother but they divorced after a few years together.  We lost contact with him  and he has died some years ago.

We would appreciate your assistance in solving this puzzle.  We live in Australia and would love to go to England to sort this out but are unable to.

SAMUEL HARGRAVES

I have the birth certificate of my Gt.Gt. Grandfather, Samuel Hargraves born  30th January 1838 registered at Castle Donington. Parents Richard Hargraves, Lace  Manufacturer/Maker, and Hannah Poxon. Hannah and Richard married April 1837.I have details of Hannah Poxon's family mainly being Gardeners but Richard is a mystery. He died at the age of 28 in April 1844 at Castle Donington, but I cannot find a birth or more importantly his parents. Parents could be John Hargraves and Mary nee Whitehead but yet to confirm. 1841 Census confirms them at Castle Donington.Does anyone know of this Richard who I believe comes from a large family. Any help would be appreciated.

THORNLEY & CALLIGHAN

I have found my family  from the Manchester  came from your area. Having found in the GRO a marriage in 1850[Thornley and Callighan] in Loughborough I wondered if you have a site as we do up here which might list in which Church it took place Lancashire BMD indicates this then you can go an look the registers up on film in the library.

I was surprised to find that on the census my GGG grandparent lists place of birth as Belgium British subject which I presume could be due to the areas links though the lace trade. His sister lives with him in 1861 in Manchester and has the same place of birth.

If you could help at all I would be most grateful.

WILLIAM WILLIAMS JONES

My grt grt uncle William Williams Jones was the headmaster at Milton College Ellesthorpe Leicestershire England on the 1881 and 1891 census of England.

As I am in the US I was hoping someone could tell me of any histories of the college that might tell me more about William. I cannot find him or his family on later census records, so I  am looking for any clues to where he might have gone.

COLMER AND ROBINSON IN HINCKLEY

I am attempting to locate any information regarding Marion, also spelled Marian E. Colmer, who was married in Dec, 1910, Hinckley District, Vol 7a and page 145, or possibly her sister, Gertrude Wallus Colmer, married Sept, 1906, Hinckley District, Vol 7a page 109. From what I have gathered they are the daughters of William Briscoe Colmer and then wife Mary Payne Colmer. William and Mary obtained a divorce and I feel that she then married a George H. Robinson, who in turn had daughters Mabel A. and Doris E. Robinson.  I am willing to share any information that I have.
