STAFFORD FAMILY

I have been tracing my family history for a few years now and i seem to have hit a brick wall. I'm tracing my Stafford family line, they all originated from South Kilworth until around the 1850's when they moved to birmingham. Most of the male Staffords were blacksmiths in South Kilworth. I have managed to trace the line back to Charles Stafford Born c1776 he died in 1834 and was buried on 02-07-1834 in south kilworth. He married a Mary Digby on 10/11/1806 in Welford, she was born c1782 I believe in welford.

Is there anyone out there that could help me to trace Charles Stafford's mother and father as i cant seem to go back any futher at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I am trying to trace the ancestry of Luke Marvin born June 10, 1820 in Hinckley. I believe his parents were Luke Marvin born 1781 (Hinckley) and either Ann or Mary MacArthur (Hinckley).

POPPLE

I am researching my ancestors named Popple, from Illston on the hill, somebody has identified a specific letter having been transcribed by Michael Billings and they said he was contactable at this site. Unfortunately I could not get much more help because the transcript was said to have been done 10 yrs ago.

The transcript I am looking for is a letter from the Popple family living in Illston on the Hill , and was sent to Thomas Popple , living in Melbourne during 1844

Any information would be greatly appreciated

LIVING IN HULL, EAST YORKSHIRE

Can anyone please point me in the right direction for cemetery records for Hugglescote.

My grandmother is buried there, and as a boy around 1964, I was taken to see it by my late mother. And as boys do, I've forgotten where VIOLETTA HOLT,d.1941 is buried. I know she didn't have a full stone, only a stone vasewith her name and date on it.

I know roughly where it was, but not exactly, and wondered who and where could supply me with a plot number and plan. There are huge areas of 'blankgrass' up there in the area of other wartime graves where stones have been destroyed or vandalised, removed, etc. I did visit about 10 yrs ago with myyounger brother, and spent a good hour or so searching in the rain withoutsuccess and getting more puzzled by the minute.

Many thanks for any help

COLIN WILLOUGHBY BAKER

My grandfather, Colin Willoughby Baker was commissioned into the 8th Batallion, The Leicester Regiment on 13 July 1915, having previously been a Warrant Officer in the Grenadier Guards.

He was awarded an MC, which was gazetted on 1st January 1917. I have been unable to find the citation for the award so do not know the reason for it. Any help will be gratefully received. The same situation has ocurred with the award of a DSO which was gazetted on 3rd June 1919. He was also mentioned in dispatches 3 times.

He finally left the army in 1945 with the rank of War Substantive Rank of Colonel but still a "Tiger" even though many years were spent at the War Office - not bad for a lad who joined the army underaged in 1895.

Any help wil be much appreciated

I am trying to trace information on my mother who died in 1966 aged 43 and was a nurse/midwife in Leicester. The Leicester Royal Infirmary Museum is shut for repairs according to their website so I was wondering if any of your members might have an interest in nursing history and what records might be available.

I would be very grateful for any assistance.

EDWARD JONES/ANN WARDEN

I am looking for information on the above names They are my husband's 2x Gt.Grandparents. We live in Canada and don't know Leicestershire. I do know the family lived in Lutterworth where their 4 children were born. They were Thomas(1836), John(1838),
Edward(1841) and Emma (1843). I have John's birth certificate. From the 1851 census I believe Edward was born in Leicester abt.1806. His wife Ann was born in Gilmorton about the same time, I believe they got married in 1831. I would love to confirm their births and their marriage so I can go back further. I have Edward's death certificate. He died in 1854 in Lutterworth. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
