JOSEPH LLOYD OF COLEORTON

I need some help in your area. I live in the USA and do not know a lot about your area of England. I ran across your website by accident while searching for somewhere to gather information about my Great Uncle, Joseph Lloyd who reportedly died in Coleorton in July 1940 at age 83. I do not know anything about his death. It may have been an auto accident, or just old age, I just do not know.  Old information I picked up a couple of years ago indicated that he lived in Ashby de la Zouch at the time of his death.  Many years ago our family lost contact with Joseph. I have been trying to get in touch with his family in England.  Joseph was my Grandmother’s Brother. He was married to Ann Marie Dawes on 6 Apr 1879 when they were members of the Church of England Parish in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire, where they also lived with their 7 children. Two died as infants: John and George but I believe that five of their children lived to maturity:

Robert b. 1880 in Barnsley, York, England

James b. 1881 in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire

Thomas b. 1883 in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire

John b. 1885 in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire died sometime between 1885 and 1901

Joseph b. 1887 in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire

George b. 1888 in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire died prior to 1901

Minnie Elizabeth b.1901 in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire

Ann Marie Dawes, wife of Joseph Lloyd was b. 1855 in Sedgeley, Stafford, England but her parents, George Dawes and Elizabeth Dunno were both from Derbyshire. George Dawes was b. c.1824 in Alfreton, Derbyshire and his wife Elizabeth Dunno was b. c. 1824 in Ashover, Derbyshire.

I do not know if Ann, Joseph’s wife was living with Joseph in Ashby de la Zouch. It seems that his Vicar must have been contacted at the time of his death. If you could get me an address for a next of kin from parish records or where ever I would appreciate it very much. I know he had children and other extended family in the surrounding area in Derbyshire and possibly in Ashby de la Zouch, but I do not know exactly where or who they were. Even though his death occurred almost seventy years ago, any information, even old information would be helpful in trying to locate living members of his family.

Not knowing much about where or how to search for marriages for the five surviving children in England, I would appreciate any hints or suggestions about how to find where these children were married and to whom or who their children are and when they were born and where they are now?
