RAWLINGS FROM TEIGH TO AUSTRALIA

I am researching my maternal family history and have confirmed that my G-G-G-Grandparents set forth from Teigh to Australia in 1855.  He and his wife were married in the Parish Church of Teigh on June 11 1852 (I have a copy of their marriage certificate) and their first two children were born prior their departure.

Their names were Thomas Goodman RAWLINGS (RAWLIN/RAWLING/ROLLING) and Eliza PILMORE and their childrens names were Maryann & Susannah (I have a photo of these early ancestors).

My research has confirmed that both Thomas RAWLINGS & Eliza PILMORE's families lived and eventually passed away in Teigh. Thomas' parents were George (born Oakham) & Sarah RAWLINGS (maiden name unknown but born Melton Mowbray). Eliza's parents were William PILMORE and Anne (nee BAILEY).

I am interested in locating any records relating to these families and in particular, the maiden name of George's wife Sarah.

I have gained as much as I can from the Civil Registers and Census records and have also accessed church records for Teigh, Whissendine, Market Overton and Ashwell (on-line) where I have confirmed the families existance in Teigh and surrounds.

I am really interested in trying to locate a marriage record for George and Sarah and birth records for their children as all except the last one (Emma) were born prior to 1837.

My research so far has identified that in 1841 George and Sarah RAWLINGS were living in Teigh and had 1) Thomas Goodman b1829, 2) Rebecca b1831 3) William b1834 and Emma b1841(I am currently waiting on the birth certificate for Emma).  It is very possible that there were children born before Thomas but I don't know how to find this information.

I live in Australia and  am not sure where to look next with my search.  Any assistance, information or redirection elsewhere you may be able to provide would be extremely appreciated.

BRIAN/BRYAN/BRYANT

I am trying to prove the death records for and locate the grave(s) of my gt gt gt grandparents and one of their sons and would appreciate any help / advice that you or your members could provide.

I have three deaths in the Uppingham district which appear to be my best lead thus far. I am hoping that the three can be found in one grave so providing some assurance(?) that it is indeed my family.

Thomas Brian / Bryan 1868 age 76 - 3Q Vol 7a Pg 212 - born between 1789 - 1792 in Oundle or Huntingdonshire according to census records. I have found a birth record in Liddington that seems to best fit so far and this person died in 1868 as shown above.

Martha Brian / Bryan nee Hopper - 1Q1856 age 60 - vol 7a pg 133 - born in Upton cum Coppingford between 1792 - 1796 according to census records.

Jabez (or Jacob) Brian / Bryan - 1Q1843 age 19 - vol 15 pg 50 - born in Huntingdonshire (most probably, Stibbington) on 2 June 1824, christened 24 Jan 1831 at the Wesleyan Methodist chapel, Peterborough (Thomas recorded as Briant).

Thomas & Martha were married at Upton cum Coppingford church on 29 April 1816. Going by the christening records for their children Thomas & Martha lived in Huntingdon, Stibbington, Peterborough & Stowe. I lose track of Thomas and Martha after the 1851 census were they are recorded as tollgate keepers in Stowe. If I am correct Martha died before the 1861 census. I have no record for Thomas in 1861 census apart from an initial TB at the workhouse in Oakham. Jabez I lose track of after the 1841 census where he was in Stibbington and recorded as Jacob.

The search seems more complicated by 1) our family changed surnames, eventually becoming Bryant and 2) the changing authorities - Leicestershire, Northamptonshire & Rutland! I am unclear where it lay in the mid-1800s, or which parishes it comprised (I have now those shown below).

As a general point I would appreciate contact from anyone researching the Brian / Bryan / Bryant families with connections in Oundle, Stibbington, Peterborough, Lincolnshire (Weston St Mary), Harborne, Keighley - I keep coming across these potential family connections but cannot prove them!
